Hult Prize Pakistan Awards Rs 5 Million to Team PDX for Winning National Finals

Hult Prize is one of the biggest social entrepreneurship competitions in Pakistan, which is believed to have engaged more than 10,000 university students for Social Entrepreneurship in Pakistan during 2017-18. AKD believes that entrepreneurship is the future of Pakistan hence any achievement of young Pakistanis in the field of entrepreneurship leads to make our whole group extremely happy and proud.

This time, the Hult Prize Pakistan took place at NUST Islamabad on 12th May. Team PDX from Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), Islamabad won the Rs. 5,000,000. The judgment panel included Pal Belenyesi, a university professor, and a consultant, flew from Belgium and Hans Henrik Christensen, VP Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, flew from Dubai to judge the national event. The panel also included last year’s $1M Hult Prize winning team.

Hult Prize Pakistan organized 5 semi-finals on 28th April in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar & Sukkur. Top-3 Teams from each Semi-Final were selected to participate in the final competition. Teams from the University of Malakand, PIDE Islamabad, IBA Karachi, IIU Islamabad, University of Karachi, Lahore Garrison University, IMSciences Peshawar, and Sukkur IBA participated in the Hult Prize Pakistan 2018 National Final. Two Teams from Lahore Garrison University were among the top 4 winning teams, along with Team PDX from PIDE and Team MEWA from IBA Karachi.

  The closing ceremony of the event took place at a local hotel in Islamabad where the President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Sheikh Amir Waheed and the judges presented the Rs. 5,000,000 cheque to the winning team.   AKD group has always supported people with potential that never fail to make Pakistan proud and all these activities that bring out the talent at front. Entrepreneurship is an important sector for a country like ours and neglecting it, would be of no good. Hence more and more of such activities need to take place in our country.
