An Insight into Former Cricketer Imran Khan’s Simple Life

Pakistan is a country blessed with countless gifts from the Almighty Allah. From abundant natural resources to pleasant climatic conditions, our land is probably a true synonym of the word ‘heaven’. But, we are also very fortunate when it comes to having personalities and stars who play their role in making our country proud and also serve the nation in any and every way possible. Edhi, Adeeb Rizvi, Arfa Karim, and many other notable figures who dedicated their lives to serving nation in their own ways. One such person is Imran Khan, a well-known cricketer and a philanthropist. Imran Khan is a former first-class cricketer for the Pakistan Cricket Team and he led the team to victory at the 1992 Cricket World Cup, Pakistan’s only world cup victory in cricket. He was also included in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. In 1991, he started a fundraising campaign for a cancer hospital which was named after her mother ‘Shaukat Khanum’. Currently, the Shaukat Khanum Hospital is functional in Lahore and Peshawar where needy and deserving people are treated absolutely free of cost.   Despite having all the means of living a luxurious life, Imran Khan chooses to live a simple life. In an interview, he said that he was once given some suits by a TV show production team which he kept wearing for the next 20 years. While responding to a question, Imran Khan said that if he had more money he’d love to donate all of that to hospitals and schools. Furthermore, he added that he never desired to wear expensive clothes. “From Shaukat Khanum Hospital to Namal University, all of my efforts were for the underprivileged ones,” he said.   We surely need more such living examples in our country for a smooth prosperity. Selfless figures like Imran Khan have done a lot for Pakistan. It’s now our turn to serve our homeland as much as we can to secure a good future for our next generations.
