Pak Army Officials and Celebrities have started donating for Bhasha Dam

The fundraising for Bhasha Dam was initiated by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 6th July 2018 and till now around 2.9 billion Rupees have been collected with the help of overseas Pakistanis and famous celebrities. To this national cause, overseas Pakistanis responded enthusiastically and donated around 2 billion just in two months.

The donation was received from nearly every region of Pakistan through banks and SMS. On the other hand, overseas Pakistanis donated via credit and debit cards. However, the required estimated amount to be collected for Bhasha Dam is 1.450 trillion PKR. This campaign was started by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, and he himself donated 1 million Rs. for this cause.

Moreover, Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa also met Chief Justice Saqib Nisar today and handed him a cheque of more than Rs. 1.05 billion.

Celebrity Response to Dam Funds:

Furthermore, veteran boxer Amir Khan announced on social media to donate 1million and Shahid Khan Afridi also showed sportsman spirit and pledge to contribute 1.5million for constructing Diamer-Bhasha Dam.

The famous star and singer Atif Aslam also announced a big contribution and has donated 2.5 million for this good cause. On the other hand, the renowned Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, in his video message announced that he will add the fund of 10,000$ for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam. The Green Shirts also came forward and decided to donate 3.2 million in Bhasha dam fund. In a press conference, captain Sarfaraz Ahmed announced that 0.2million will be donated by each player who is playing in Asian Cup 2018. The Prime Minister Imran Khan also made an appeal to the whole nation and especially from overseas Pakistani by highlighting the severity and scarcity of water resources in Pakistan. The Prime Minister of Pakistan also warned that, if we do not build water reservoirs within seven years, the country will be facing a terrible water crisis.
